The King County Democrats embrace the principles of the Democratic Party, and work across King County to promote those principles in the form of building a strong party organization, recruiting candidates and electing Democrats. The organization works closely with the Washington State Democrats, the 16 Legislative District Democratic organizations, and the elected officials.  Training of party activists and candidates, and unity of purpose are major activities.

Presentation: Using GIS in the 2008 Elections

King County's own Chad Lupkes presented at a conference last month on the precinct maps that are available.  You can view his presentation online.  IMHO, this is absolutely AWESOME use of technology to help activists organize.  Kudos Chad and team--

New King County Dems Community Calendar

Fellow King County Democratic activists,

I’m writing to let you know about major improvements in our web-based “Community Calendar” (http://www.kcdems.net/calendar.)  The presentation and business logic layers have been completely re-written.  What this means is that you can now submit events using a web form.

If you are an “admin” these events will immediately be published.  If you are not an admin, rather than (the old system of) waiting for a single calendar editor to post your event, any of our web site admins (me, Suzie, Chad, and Tina) can approve the event.

We also have a new “Manage” view (http://www.kcdems.net/calendar/manage.aspx) that allows visitors to see different views of calendar events.

Please take a look and reply to me or leave a comment on the blog if you have any questions or suggestions.  Thanks—
--Rob
